A Brief History

The Kingsland Community Church was formed in February 1954 to provide a worship experience for people with various protestant Church  backgrounds. It was initially housed in a building owned by the Llano Christian Church and was formed with encouragement from the pastor of that church.

The Church grew as not only a place of worship, but as a place for community activities. The first permanent building owned by the Church, on its present site, was built in 1957 as a gift from the Barrow family. The Church was chartered and incorporated in 1961. Major new buildings or expansions were completed in 1965 and 1985.

By 1974, the Church had grown to over 500 members and represented 11 different denominations. This diversity continued over the years and the Community Church served as a logical place of worship for Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Christians and others who had no local churches for their particular denomination.

The multi-denominational heritage continues to provide an atmosphere of worship where all feel welcome and comfortable.
